5.0 out of 5 stars Love the display and Sony has the best UI for Android., 26 Dec 2012

Very nice power saving functionality wich I didn't find in my Xperia S. UI has a better flow compared to Galaxy S3 and Note 2. Some times I experience delay when pressing the camera button from locked phone. I don't know if that comes from the security policies from the exchange server I'm connected to. I recommend this phone for everyone who has decided to go for Android (or the Xperia V if you like a phone which is water sealed, 1 meter under water for 30 minutes). If you like something else I wold recommend Nokia Lumia Windows Phone which has a fantastic flow in the UI and a lot of nice functionality built in to the OS, facebook integration is perfect and the mail client is the best I've ever tested.

Happy with the camera and most of its features. Very user friendly. Minus points are the battery runs down very quickly and I cant companion it with my PC for the updates, but constantly telling me I need to do one. Most annoying!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing. Would be perfect if it had either a removable battery or higher capacity battery installed., 22 Dec 2012

I left a slightly long one so I'll leave the summary at the top:

> Strengths: Great design, beautiful screen, dual-core processor providing amazing fluent performance, responsive scratch-resistant screen, 13MP camera, full HD video recording, sleek accessable interface, wonderful immersive sound, plenty of internal storage, gesture input typing, free Sony in-ear earbud headset.
> Limitations: Battery life could be better (although not as bad as I was expecting, the screen still eats up alot of power), no removable battery, slow focus response on camera.

Main Review:
Just upgraded to this model from the Xperia Tipo after looking at other models such as the Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC One X, and the iPhone. Taking into consideration the price and what I get for the money, the Xperia T seemed like one to go for (admittedly, one of the deciding factors for me was also my personal preference for the Xperia interface, just to admit a slight personal bias in my decision). Seeing as I was expecting to pay anywhere from £399 - £420 for the sim-free model, I felt extremely fortunate to find it here for £370.

I waited a few days to leave a review in order to first experience how this phone handles frequent daily usage. After turning it on, the first features to strike me included; the beautiful screen and the amazing picture it produces, the incredibly responsive touchscreen (a weakness of my previously owned Tipo), and the flawless performance allowing to seamlessly glide through the menu, multitask and browse webpages online. I sought to further test the screen and was left amazed by simply watching the pre-installed video content. A shot swooping over the side of a canyon in one pre-installed video was nothing short of breath-taking. With 16GB of internal storage I'm also able to install plenty of apps that all run flawlessly, as well as the ability to get all the music from my iPod on the internal storage and further expand this with Micro SD storage. That, coupled with the amazing sound quality, has rendered my iPod useless. The widget function on this phone is also great with the ability to bring up widgets such as a caluculator, timer, notepad, voice recorder in a small window that can be dragged across the screen while in the middle of performing any task. This is especially useful when having to do quick calculations or taking details down in the middle of a call. The Xperia tools widget present on my tipo (allowing quick one-touch control over bluetooth, wifi, backlight which is very useful when trying to use phone under direct sunlight, data traffic etc.) has also been integrated to the drag down menu which is great. The accessability and customisation that I enjoyed on the lower-end Tipo has been expanded on to great effect. The 13MP camera produces some wonderful pictures, although slightly slow to focus after movement. A major irritation from the Tipo was also typing becuase of the small cramped screen and the sometimes unresponsive touchscreen. This is no longer an issue and the gesture input allows me to type words quickly without even lifting my finger from the screen. The free Sony MH750 earbud in-ear headset was also a pleasant surprise. Although it is miles better quality than the cheap and rubbish earphones that come with Apple devices, I decided to give it to my brother along with my old Tipo since I already use a pair of Sennheisers.

A major reason for waiting to leave a review was because I have been extremely conscious of comments on the battery. After setting my phone up, I turned down the screen brightness, turned data traffic off, set the screen to turn itself off after 15 seconds of inactivity and installed Juice Defender from the Play Store. After doing this, I've had no real issue with battery life although it still falls short of the Tipo (which is abit of an unfair comparison since this phone is powering a larger HD screen as well as a dual-core processor). The past two days of use has involved me travelling on the train, walking around the city centre and meeting up with friends. During most of this time the music player has been on and, after only losing 1-2% of battery over 2 hours before leaving, I was only down to around 70% after returning home on the night and down to a further 40% before going to bed. This has also involved me playing games while bored on the train and showing the phone's features off. In the few hours spent at my friend's house, his Samsung Galaxy S2 had already died after a full charge before I arrived (my dad aslo has the S2 for work and the battery drains completely while on standby). The biggest drop in battery for my Xperia T has been when using the screen and the power management menu showed the screen to use around 50% of the power. It is easy to become more conscious of battery use since the battery percentage is displayed in numerical form alongside the battery icon which I personally don't like. Lack of a removable battery is a slight concern though (I am mostly worried about possible deterioration of battery life over time). Overall though, I would still say a higher capacity battery could have been used. If the battery does become an issue I may consider seeking the possibility of exchanging for an Xperia XT when available(pretty much the same model but with a removable battery).

I have had mine for a month now and having switched from an iPhone 4S, I must say I didn't realise how much I was missing out on!!!
The screen is gorgeous on this phone and a lot bigger. The camera is really good too.
I love the fact that you can expand the already reasonable 16gb memory with a relatively cheap SD card.

and the apps are almost all free!
I am one happy bunny :-)

Xperia T is a great phone for anyone, the camera is the best I have seen on any mobile phone and has more settings and better results than my old digital camera. The screen is really bright and vibrant which is shown off best when watching films. I use music a lot on the move and I found that the Walkman app is a great little tool, it lets me adjust the sound like I would at home on my hifi.
Overall a great phone, I would defo recommend it (and already have)

1.0 out of 5 stars I hate this phone!, 9 Dec 2012

The camera is a disgrace - don't believe a word they say about it being fantastic. I am coming from a Nokia N8, which is (was) top of its class, and I therefore have high expectations, but even so I would have expected something better. Also when using the video the thing heats up to the point that it shuts itself down. I now take my Nokia with me for camera purposes - I refuse to use the one on the Sony.
The battery usage is spectacular - it is the only phone I have ever had where the battery actually DISCHARGES when plugged in the car charger or via my PC. Under normal usage you can even watch the power percentage going down.
It is full of useless gimmicks, or gimmicks that appear to have no function at all - the much-vaunted NFC appears to serve little purpose other than to share youtube pages, but should you ever need to do this you have to first make sure that both devices with this function have it turned on and then you have to rub them together, by which time it is just quicker to type the title/URL manually.
Similarly wi-fi direct. It has such an option, but it apparently does zilch. I'm pretty savvy with these things, but to claim that this will usurp bluetooth is pushing the limits. My wife has a galaxy S3, and we tried sharing files this way, but it is impossible. It also does not connect to my PC and I therefore cannot synch photos, calendar dates, etc. I downloaded the Sony PC companion, but it just kept opening pop-up windows.
Sony helpdesk is unable to explain any of this coherently, other than 'look in the handbook', or 'there's an app for that' but that doesn't help either. Orange just fobs you off saying 'nobody uses that anyway'.
I have a huge list of 'dislikes' about this thing, but more about android in general, so I won't go into them here.
I might as well have a £9.99 phone that you can pick up at the checkout till in Morrisons.
To cap it all, I have only had the phone for a few weeks and the coating on the back is already starting to peel, and I hardly ever use it. This seems to be a common problem as several people are complaining about it on the Sony users forum. I urge any current users to check their phones and see if they are experiencing anything similar. If they ever replace this piece of junk for me, it is going straight onto e-bay. Sony has lost a customer here, and I won't be getting an android, either. Unfortunately symbian has gone, almost, but the pureview 808 is still available, so that is going to be the next purchase. At least you knew where you are at with symbian ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Well done Sony, 20 Nov 2012

Having read many reviews about the latest smartphones and having just recently purchased the Sony 55" HX8 TV, I thought I would give the Sony Xperia T a try.

Firstly, the screen is incredible - sharp pictures great for viewing videos and pictures. The 13mp camera has really impressed me and lived up to the reputation Sony have in the point and shoot camera market.

The battery life is, to be honest, is what you would expect from a high end smartphone packed with features you will just want to use all the time. I will get a full day out of it and I have 2 email accounts and a number of social network accounts constantly updating in the background.

Overall, really pleased I made the right choice in getting the Xperia T

Had my phone around 2 weeks now. I have to say its AWESOME. Much simpler UI than my old Galaxy S2, and battery life is really good even when listening to music through headphones for long periods.

Really like the fact I can sign into the PS Store and access Music Unlimited.

Walkman App is awesome, so much so i've FINALLY ditched my iPod touch since all my iTunes imported into Media go.

Also music much better quality than the HTC beats that my partner has.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unhappy Regret, 18 Nov 2012

Had it 1 day. The interface is nice. Everything is slick but let down by extremely POOR battery life....the screen drinks juice like nothing I've seen before. I think I got 3 hrs constant use before a charge.

And now the unit is piping hot...yes HOT. It only started after I tried taking a photo with the flash. Took about 7 or 8 pics...then felt unit getting extremely hot , so turned screen off to let cool. And now each time I use the phone for anything, it gets VERY hot again, especially the back.

I will consider returning the phone to the high st retailer I bought it from unless Sony advise of a software update to fix heating issue easily. I'm worried it may overheat, explode or set my carpet on fire. As I write, I am testing the unit by charging it with the screen off, it hasn't heated up yet. But my faith is gone, dashed! £400 of love, broken.

If it didn't have these two major problems, I would give it 4.5 stars. Fix it Sony!
