I bought this phone because my previous phone (an Xperia Ray) had a screen that was no longer compatible with my eyesight - too small. So an upgrade was on the cards, and I selected this very stylish looking model, and friends and colleagues have admired it. I am not disappointed with its performance, and like any other smart phone you load the apps you want. However the life span of a fully charged battery can be easily used in less than one day. So if you are a gamer, or a songster, this may not be the device for you: which is why I gave it 4 stars. 5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing phone, 8 Nov 2012

This is a great phone in all measures. It fits your hand exactly like an iPhone and it is easy to operate. I would recommend this phone to anybody wishing to take pictures and speak for a long time on the phone. 2 of 14 people found the following review helpful

I brought this phone for my dad, he is 58 and is okay with tech - so let me get that clear to begin with. The phone itself looks good, stainless steal type back and build quality good, the biggest issue is the functions of this mobile device!I have an Iphone 4, my friends Samnsungs etc and I have tried the lot, this by far is the most annoying in function. Not easy to move from screen to screen, nor is it easy to set up! Dont even get me started on the PC Set up side of things! Interface is slow, not very responsive either.
Sent it back and will stick to Samsungs for him, easy to use and half the price of the Iphone! Avoid this if you dont want to go to uni to learn how to use it!

I recently purchased this device direct from Amazon. The item came as stated by Amazon, within two working days. I have several smartphones, simply because get bored & like to swap around.
I was using my Galaxy Nexus until the xperia P arrived, so I will base my findings against the nexus.
Statement I am over the moon with the xperia P device. I saw the good reviews but had not even seen the phone for real until it arrived.
To start the phone has very clean lines & a nice feel with the metal design. The phone uses a micro sim, inserted left side of the phone, gold contact down & removed corner first. Thought would get that in because instructions not too clear.
Started up the phone & like advertised it was any network & the phone set itself up & only needed click install settings & off it went. E-mail, calender sync all perfect, something that has not always gone well with other phones.
The phone is running gingerbread, not ICS & my nexus is running jelly bean but to be honest the gingerbread os has nothing really wrong with it, so very happy with it.
The screen quality blows the nexus out of the water & the 4" screen is a far better size in my eyes than the 4.65 of the nexus. With this the phone is more pocket friendly & does feel & appear a more professional device to use. The call quality is probably the best I have had on a mobile phone ever & I've had mobiles since the mid 90's & I've owned many phones.
I never really thought of call quality until I used this device & realised how well it preformed.
The 8meg camera is a treat to use, & I'm very impressed with how the phone renders web pages. For some reason thought it would not be very quick but when putting it besides the nexus, can't notice any significant difference. The power/lock button is on the right upper side of the device, where I prefer than the top.
I believe the battery is something 1300 where the nexus is about 1650, these are only the approx figures I'm not that much of a geek to be precise but I can confirm on side by side standby the xperia P retains a longer battery use. I am getting two good days charge out of the device, using mainly calls, text & net.
The sound off the speaker when using video, or watching youtube is nice crisp & clear, unlike some of my other devices that play very low volume.
The earphones are also the best I've ever recieved with a mobile phone.
I had been looking at the xperia S, although I believe these phones are getting too large & look a little silly when being used for calls. The xperia P is a nice size when using to make calls, which sounds silly but the internet is apparently the most used feature on mobiles now. That being said the picture quality makes up for lack of screen size & you can also link direct to your tv via the supplied hdmi cable, so you can watch your videos or pictures on your tv. even bigger than the samsung note.
I thought my favourite mobile was my htc one s but something keeps making me pick up the xperia P.
With some smartphones now in excess of £500 I believe the P is a good capable device at half that cost.

The 4-inch screen on the Xperia P is just right for me, I can easily use it one-handed while I found the larger 4.3-inch Xperia S was a bit awkward. The metal back gives it a premium touch and it feels solid and well-built. The screen is easy to read outside at 100%, even on a bright day. I normally have it set at 50% to save battery. The 8Mp camera is excellent and seems better than that on my previous Xperia Neo. Calls are clear and the dialler has been improved over the Neo. Be aware it uses a micro SIM card.
It currently runs Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread though Sony have promised an upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS, probably in August. I believe Sony's current customisation does use some ICS features. Unfortunately, there is a lot of bloatware taking up memory space which you can't easily get rid of. There is 11.2 Gb of internal storage plus about 1.5 Gb of phone memory. There's no way for expanding memory by a microSD card.
The Xperia P is quite responsive to use but things like live wallpapers can cause a slight lag (and drain the battery!).
Box contents are basic but there is a micro HDMI cable for connection to an HD TV. The phone has an NFC chip but there are no Smart Tags incuded. I bought a pack and have found them useful for quickly changing the profile of the phone. Sony NT1 Smart Tag Kit with 4 Xperia NFC Smart Tags for Android
Battery life is about 1-2 days on normal use but spend time playing games, surfing the Net, watching videos etc. and it drains quite quickly. Like most smartphones, the battery never has enough capacity.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my Xperia P- 5 stars.

I'm very happy with my Xperia P. It sits nicely in the hand, has a good screen that works well in direct sunlight, has a fast enough chip that rarely lags and it looks a little different to the many other smartphones out there. The screen and buttons on the transparent strip are responsive. The camera is rather good. Build quality is great.
Cons: too many Sony bloatware apps pre-installed that you can't remove (eg. Music Unlimited, Video Unlimited, TrackID, etc.). It comes with Android 2.3.7, and although Sony have created an Android 4 update for the Xperia S, I am still waiting for a similar update for the Xperia P. There is no support for SD cards of any size. Finally the battery runs down fairly quickly (it can lose 10% overnight with WiFi, GPS, etc. disabled).
I was aware of most of the cons before I bought the phone, so I'm not disappointed with it.
Overall, recommended.

One word, awesome !! good value. be aware that smart tags and extra antenna cover(Orange or Red for black colour) is not included. You'll only get the phone, charger and handsfree. You'll get only 11GB for apps and music which is nor really enough. plus it lags a little on live wallpapers. One thing I loved about this phone is the sound quality of the earbuds. AWESOME !!! I recommend this phone for those who hate HTC and Samsung and don't want to waste their money on iPhone 4S either !! 29 of 30 people found the following review helpful

I love this phone. Came from a HTC Desire Z and was glad to have the Xperia P as my new smartphone. The 8 megapixel camera is excellent (3D panorama mode ftw!) and the whole design is stunning.
Downloaded a ton of apps and games on this phone and although there is some lag, it's rare. 16GB storage is actually 11GB but that's well enough for me.
PROS:
-Sexy design :)
-Good camera
-Nice easy-to-hold 4" screen
-100% Brightness is REALLY bright!
-Front camera
-Good call quality
-Fast charger; around 2 hour charge for 100%
-Battery is average for smartphones but it has been improved by the recent 4.0 upgrade (I now charge my phone every 2 days max, or 1 day min)
-Now upgradable to ICS
-Sony says it'll eventually be upgraded to Jelly Bean also.
CONS:
-Transparent strip can only light up in white and it doesn't look as good as Xperia S\U's when it lights up because the whole strip doesn't light up (only 3 LEDs light up so that you can see the 3 buttons on the strip).
-Aluminium can scratch so it'd be a good idea to buy a case/cover.
CONCLUSION:
Although it's not the best smartphone out in the market right now in terms of specs, it's definitely worth the price it is now.
All in all, I recommend this phone if you want an all around good smartphone. If you'd rather get an amazing OMG massive phone with quadcore, then ignore this one.
