I bought this phone at the end of 2011 and still own it now. At the time it was HTC's flagship device with a price to match - £330! The phone itself it's nice to look at, with a metal and rubberish case which is pleasant to hold. The screen is bright and clear, and the touch sensitive buttons at the bottom are nice and responsive. The phone runs pretty well, it can easily handle multiple apps at once with little lag, but the biggest bugbear I have is that there is often a short delay when opening apps such as Messaging. Not all phones do this, and when you see that some sub £100 phones can open apps like messaging and phone instantly, it's a little frustrating. Tried contacting HTC about the matter but I didn't really get anywhere, they seemed to say the phone will run slightly slower when you update to Ice Cream Sandwich, so if you can stay on the Gingerbread version. The phone also doesn't have much RAM, so you can be swapping between two apps and sometimes when returning to one, expecting to carry on where you left off, such as filling in a form, the phone will have quit the app due to low memory and has to reload the entire app, which takes time and means you can lose where you were up to.

All in all, this was a bit of a disappointment. Battery life is not great (even by smartphone standards) it will last anything from 10-20 hours depending on usage. Considering it is a high-end dual core phone, it just doesn't perform as well as it should. HTC Sense is a nice addition, it runs smoothly and is nice to look at, and Facebook integration means your contacts have photos added automatically. However these gimmicks don't really make up for what is an overpriced underperforming device

I bought this phone for the Mrs, it was something she wanted for a while - thought I'd get a used phone but it turns out to be almost brand new! I have used it for a limited period but I think this phone is brilliant value for money, although it is getting a bit old, it isn't showing it from day to day usage. The phone has access to the play store and you can download hundreds of apps - I upgraded the storage to 16GB with a micro SD card so tons of room for video or pictures using the brilliant 8MP camera. It is fast and responsive when using the menu system and running any 2D apps, as well as running some 3D games - must admit, not the latest and greatest games. I love the HTC sense user interface, especially the built in weather feature. The resolution of the screen is still pretty good, not as good as the latest Super AMOLED HD but still impressive. Good for watching things like TV channels over wi-fi (when the main TV is not available...)

Great unit and capability. Functionality takes a little getting used to if you are not familiar with the brand. I am pleased with it but it does have it's drawer backs: The online instructions are weak to say the least and the HTC sync - is poor - still cannot understand how to sync properly. Online help is slow and tiedious - so poor rating from me on this aspect. Unit is solid and graphics are ace. Speed is more than acceptable. It does me.

I love this model. It covers all my needs, looks amazing, works excellent, so the price was perfect in terms of expences-usability. The only thing I would like, if camera took piccies a bit faster.

I got this phone for business use. I began to have complaints that no one could understand what I was saying clearly. I thought it was the bluetooth in my car until people began to say I sounded muffled even while not on handsfree. So as a phone, (and we had three at work and all suffered the same) people could not differentiate the end of words or 'p' from 'b', 'm' from 'n' etc.

To make matters worse it only connected to one of the three cars' bluetooth systems I've had, so had to revert to an old phone when travelling. Then it stopped working with my wifi. Look on Google for Wifi 'error' as there seems to be no fix. It's ability to connect to the internet through mobile access is utterly poor. You can be waiting fifteen minutes for a simple webpage to upload with a full signal, yet move a few inches and it suddenly loads - consequently you are constantly moving around trying to find and then maintain a good connection. It also has the habit of suddenly switching off and being unable to switch back on again.

Finally, the predictive text is hugely frustrating. If you type quickly you can end up spelling something wrong and saving it into the phone's language as incorrect. It also offers up crazy alternatives that as soon as you press the spacebar change automatically, so you have to constantly be on the look out for these changes.

A good point is that the phone is robust. I've worked with this phone for around twelve months and I will be glad to see the back of it. The three we had at work all suffered the same issues: poor at being a phone, poor at internet access, unable to fix wifi errors, and difficult to maintain a mobile internet connection. Not found what it is good at yet I'm afraid.

I purchased this phone a year ago and was initially impressed with the jump from my previous handset (iPhone 3gs). The screen is vibrant and responsive (usually) and it's able to multi task without becoming overwelmed.

I have been impressed with the flexibility of the operating system but that speaks more about the Android platform than the phone itself.

As time has gone on, I have experienced increasing issues with battery life (I ended up purchasing a higher capacity battery just to get me through a typical day) and have been let down by the Alarm Clock function on more than one occasion. In fact i have to manually reset/restart the phone every couple of days or basic functions such as the alarm cease to work. I can only assume that the basis for this is that the cache gets full and overwhelms the system. Still, it's not really excusable for a phone with this price and spec.

If you can pick up one of these cheaply, it might be worth doing so, but in it's position in the market as one of HTC's premium devices I expected a lot more. More to the point, I think it's reasonable for a basic function such as an alarm clock to work.

Overall, it has left me with a slightly bitter taste in the mouth and I would be hesitant to chose HTC above some of the other major Smartphone manufacturers in the future.

I've had my phone since March 2012. Upgraded to ICS (4.0), then the phone started behaving weirdly.
Every time I restarted it was upgrading the apps before booting (had to reset it to factory settings 2 times before it went away).
The Sense UI sometimes spins out of control when I want to scroll to another home screen tile.
Screen changes brightness after exiting camera app.
Random call drops (not many but still) even when both sides have good signal strength.
Death grip that kills the Wi-Fi when holding the phone horizontally (google it to find out more).
I know that ~24h of a single battery charge is what you should expect from any high end smartphone but Sensation is clearly not optimized, not tested in that regard or HTC are just fine with it being a battery hog. 18 hours of battery life with light to moderate use (no gaming, no resource-heavy apps) is simply not good enough.
Also seems to be suffering (although to the lesser extent comparing to my previous phone, Desire HD) from The HTC Sense reloading every time I exit a resource-heavy app. It supposed to be related to an issue with RAM not being managed properly.

The LCD died in July. Replaced under insurance policy. Since then the digitizer has become more and more unresponsive.
I have to type in slow motion now, otherwise the digitizer does not record half of the presses.

Initially I have been delighted with the phone. Had all of the features of a modern smartphone and none of the issues of Desire HD it seemed.
A worthy replacement of my Desire HD (which died of mobo failure). I know this is my last HTC phone as all the issues I mentioned simply make using this phone a struggle rather than pleasure.
It's just too much. Real shame.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good, 26 Sep 2012

I have had this phone for 5 days and I have to say it is superb. I read loads of reviews before buying it and I have to admit to being a little apprehensive about it because lots of people seem to have had problems. So far I am really pleased especially after upgrading to Sense 3.6 and Android 4.0.3 (ICS). The interface is slick and easy to use and the phone never ceases to amaze me - I previously owned a Desire and this phone has improved on all of the frustrations of this.

I am keeping my eye on the dust under the screen problem - so far no dust, but I am using a gel case which covers the seal around the screen. I have had no problems with rebooting or lost calls - the call quality is actually pretty amazing. Everyone who sees the phone asks where I got it, even an iPhone user.

I will do an update in a couple of months - but so far so good (touch wood).

I'm now on my second handset of this phone. On the first the on/off/sleep button broke after 7 months use. Amazon replaced the handset. Then the microphone in the second handset became faulty after 6 months. I am very careful with my phone so they were not abused in any way. I complained to Amazon again and they referred me to HTC. HTCs advise is to backup and restore the device, remove all apps then re-add them one by one to see if its a software issue. To be honest this does not help me at all, I have a newborn baby and don't have hours to spare messing about - I just need a phone that works. Instead I'm left with a handset that I can't make calls with! My friend also has this phone and has also had hardware issues. I'd not recommend buying this phone.
