if Note II is as good as this, dont hesitate! Has all the features of latest Galaxy phones, with the added phablet features of being able to instantly write messsages on your screen, or draw. Screen much larger too for all those more senior geeks who want a decent smartphone. It does fit in most normal shirt pockets, or easily into trouser pockets. SMS buttons are larger too, making it easier to compose messages, and you can use the pen too. Very good battery life compared with my old U600. Depending on usage, easily 5-7 days before needing a charge. Highly recommended! 5.0 out of 5 stars I love my phone., 20 Dec 2012

Simply a great phone. Very large screen (too large for some people, so I suspect it may appeal more to people with big hands and pockets), great battery life, and just works like a dream. My next phone will probably be the Galaxy Note 2, but I'm very happy with the Note for now. 3.0 out of 5 stars Lovely phone but prefer 32gb version, 20 Dec 2012

Great phone. Amazing screen with vibrant colours. Reception quality in call could be better. Also, an issue is internal storage. Fills very quickly with games apps. Insufficient for needs. Sure, , it can be expanded with external sd card, but i have found that this can cause lags. Much prefer 32gb internal memory. Returned this phone and purchased 32gb version. Recommendation: buy a 32gb version if you like your apps and games. 5.0 out of 5 stars Good product, 16 Dec 2012

After spending years as an iPhone junkie, I finally had enough of iTunes and the AppStore and Apple branded software that won't speak to anything that isn't Apple. I still think iPhones are great, and my partner loves my old iPhone 4. But damn are you tied into everything Apple. So, I wanted something new, that could match the iPhone in usability and blow it out of the water with connectivity that isn't an iPhone: enter the Galaxy Note. Android is awesome as an OS, it's opensource and Google (they own the internet right?) Makes life easy. If you want to move stuff between your PC and phone you just plug and play, no need to download extra software! Hooray!
The Google Play store is as easy as the AppStore just without the mandatory registration and pointless litigation found with Apple. Nearly all of the same apps are available too.
Android has a benefit over iOS in that its much more user defined. How you run your phone is up to you more. It's more like a mini PC in a lot of ways. So if you want a superb UI with great personalisation, then the Note delivers where iPhone cannot. It's UI is second to none. The Swype keyboard input is inspired and super easy to use. The 5" LCD HD screen is big and bright and makes other smartphones look tiny in comparison (this is a big handset), but you are rewarded for your tight pocket space with rich colours and a crystal clear display.
The CPU and RAM make running times smooth and short for nearly all operations, even quicker than the HTC One X (having had one). The camera is top notch and the video records in HD. Video playback is lag free and providing your coverage is good internet loading times are super short, even streaming.
This phone does everything you want, and probably more. I've had mine for 6 months and it's fantastic, hardworking, and tough (it's taken a few knocks, been dropped and shrugged it off).
Only minor note about the Note is that it's like a PC in that you have to clean caches and stop programmes in the background if you want fast running times. But hey, that's nothing new, let's face it.
This a super phone. Good bye iPhone, I'm off to explore the Galaxy.

Great phone. Signal is great, sound quality very good, love scribbling and drawing on it, camera is as good as others, video is very good, performance and battery life after 2 months have both been great. Wifi is very good.Screen real estate is brilliant for a phone. Samsung/android GUI is very well designed and works well.
The voice commands work great (need connection to internet for this to work). GPS has been faultless.
In fact the only bad thing I have to say about this phone is the size which is of course the good thing.
I cannot fit it in some of my jeans pockets - new jeans!
It is much more awkward to try and take pics with one hand than I had envisaged - in fact almost impossible so two hands are a must.
Plus I'd rather use the physical button for this not the virtual one.
If you're going to use this for doodling, note taking, drawing etc and for internet use its great.
If you like whipping out your phone to take random photos while out walking or in the pub its not so good.
As a phone it does everything you need and well.

I bought this phone - as I could read the tel number keypad, even without my glasses....:)Within a week it had make my poor DELL Netbook redundant - such was it's speed, ease of use and functionality.
The phone upgraded from Gingerbread to an early version of Ice Cream Sandwich - lost the great torch app that was built in and had to get one that runs adverts, but a small price to pay..... BUT...
Then the 'fun' started with charging... I use the phone a lot away from mains powers and use it for navigating when driving.... However, the phone started losing power - even when on charge and the connector to the phone seemed to be 'loose' - so I bought a new one.... that hasn't fixed the issue :(
Searching the web - there seems to be differing view points
1/ The phone has a design fault with the 'female' socket.
2/ It is the upgrade to ICS - don't believe this one
3/ There is dirt in the female socket on the phone - which can only be removed by filing a needle and poking around - too frightened to try
I have ordered a charger that will charge the battery outside the phone and a 5000 Mw ( double capacity battery )
Hopefully, one or both of these purchases will help.
Now there is a new Note - taller and thinner - but I prefer the GT 7000.
Might be a good buy - if the charging issue can be resolved - certainly - if it could be resolved - a better phone than the Apple 1phone 4 - and THAT is the opinion of guys who were 'jealous' - until my phone kept refusing to charge :)

I was looking forward to receive the Galaxy Note, but sadly because I only need a phone, basic calender and Mapping, and it does not come with Maps built in and uses Google Maps, it was no good for me, as the area in Wales I live in has no mobile phone coverage and hence no internet connection. So it had to be returned and I then bought a Nokia N8 which has mapping installed and I find is more accurate with information than Garmin, road names, closed roads etc. As I did not use the phone, I cannot comment on the phone or internet connection, and my comment and mapping is limited to the mapping. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful
5.0 out of 5 stars To be or Note Two be? Galaxy Note or Galaxy Note II, 11 Sep 2012

What to buy now, Galaxy Note or Galaxy Note II? In this review I am concentrating on the differences between the later model Galaxy Note II (N7100) and Galaxy Note N7000, I am not detailing all the specifications but only the major differences between Galaxy Note II and Galaxy Note, for those of you who are, like Hamlet, torn between the Note and Note II buying decisions. The Main differences between Galaxy Note (N7000) and Galaxy Note II (N7100) are-
The Processor
Note II CPU is Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A9 (Exynos 4412 Quad chipset) while Galaxy Note has Dual-core 1.4 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 CPU (Exynos chipset) however the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is the same Mali-400MP. So both the CPUs are good and both the GPUs are the same!
Operating System
Note II's Operating System is Android OS, v4.1 (Jelly Bean) while Note has Android OS, v2.3.5 (Gingerbread), upgradable to v4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwhich) a few serial upgrades are necessary but it's simple and easy with Samsung's Kies software provided with the note or downloadable from Samsung sites.
Display
I personally think both displays are pretty similar while the original Galaxy Note's display is slightly better because both displays are Super AMOLED, while Note II has a slightly bigger screen 5.5 inches with 720 x 1280 pixels (-267 ppi pixel density) display Samsung Note has SLIGHTLY lesser display screen of 5.3 inches with 800 x 1280 pixels (-285 ppi pixel density)
Memory
The internal memory of Galaxy Note II comes with 16, 32 or 64 Gb storage with 2 Gb RAM while Glaxy Note has only 16 Gb upto 32 Gb storage with only One Gb RAM. Here Galxy Note really scores. In both models the card slots are microSD.
Battery
Note II has Li-Ion 3100 mAh while Note has only Li-Ion 2500 mAh, so the Note II battery is better but 2500 mAh is not bad either, it all depends on your application usage, if you use battery wisely it's not that big difference.
Camera
Camera features are pretty same but here Galaxy Not is slightly better with the secondary (front facing camera) with 2.0 MP while Note II secondary camera is 1.9 MP.
Connectivity
Both WLAN wifi connections are pretty same Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot while Note II is dual band. Blue ooth in Note II is version 4.0 with A2DP, LE, EDR while Note has version 3.0 with A2DP, EDR. Both models lack infrared port. 4G Network in Note II is LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 2100 - N7105 while Note has LTE 700 (Region Specific).
As you can see though there are differences in many cases they were slight, but the price difference is NOT slight. So if you are any average user and wanted a Note model, and couldn't make up your mind - then go for Galaxy Note, it's an amazing phablet (phone-tablet), actually it's a fantastic smartphone. With Galaxy Note II's arrival the price for Galaxy Note will drop, which makes it again a wise decision to go for Samsung Galaxy Note N7000. So if it was Hamlet, he would have been told "to be" to Galaxy Note and "not to be" or "Note II be" to Galaxy Note II.
