I have now had this phone for about 6 months and this is the best phone I have ever had. I worked directly as a sales rep for a mobile network so have some knowledge of handsets and spend a lot of time researching before buying as I tend to keep onto a phone for two years at a time so want something that will last. I upgraded from a Nokia e63 qwerty keyboard style business phone and this is my first full screen touch phone as I was always concerned about typing on a small screen keyboard with by big fingers, luckily I have had no problem with this perfectly sized screen and i find that my entry is as accurate as typing on the qwerty keyboard. The screen is amazing hi def and as far as I know it is Gorilla Glass which makes it harder to break / scrape. I know i have had it in my pocket with my keys by mistake a few times and worried the screen would be wreaked, but it is still perfect. There was a lot of talk about it being to big, but it is so thin that it fits in my pocket easily and you dont even know its there, that being said i have never went down the skinny jeans route so you guys might have problems! The thing that attracted me to this most was the screen size and the pen as I like to do a bit of art and I have found a few great drawing apps for the phone. It also makes a good eReader and you can downlaod the Kindle app for free and have access to everything on Amazon through your normal account, there is a nice white text on black screen function for reading at night as well so it is not too bright. The app store is great and games and apps look great on this screen although if its not plugged in you will notice the battery drain quite quickly. You probably get about 3/4 hours constant use when playing games on a full battery charge. i also watch a lot of movies on the phone which is brilliant for travelling and I also have netflix on it for home use and it also talks to my Samsung smart tv which is cool. You can actually use the phone as a controller for the TV, including playing games etc. There are some downsides
The battery life is poor due to the large screen and this is the first phone I have ever had which I have actually run out of power halfway through the day, however that was when i just got it and was playing constantly. With normal use and through keeping the brightness down it lasts fine. I also have a few friends who have just bought the iPhone 5 which has even worse battery time and a much smaller screen.
The screen in the sunlight, I can hardly see it outside sometimes in bright daylight even with the screen at full brightness, I have been told you can get screen filters which will help with this but I havent bothered because we dont really get that much sun here.
I have noticed it freeze the odd time even within the first week, however I am not sure if this is the operating system or just from downloading poor apps from Google play. I do love and prefer the Android operating system but it is not as fast or smooth as the iPhone OS
However I can live with all of the above quite happily because the upside is that the screen size and quality just makes everything from watching movies to playing games and browsing the internet a complete joy, it's just like having a little computer in your pocket. I have also already had a free official OS update from Gingerbread to IceCream Sandwhich which really made a big difference in terms of ease of use. If you just want a phone this is not for you, but if like me you spend more time online and playing than you do actually talking and messaging then this is a good buy. That being said however call quality is perfect and messaging is simple on this device and with the Note2 now out its a good price as well.
Should be a 4.7, but will give it 5, it makes me happy :)

This was an early Christmas present andI love it, still finding out different
apps as there are so many, it doesn't
fit in my pocket as easily as an ordinary
mobile but everything else makes up for
that.

had this 4 months now and can honestly say i could never see myself using something smaller.I do find myself having to hard reset the phone every so often as a stray app gets to eat my battery, i think this is more down to the app not being optimized for ice cream sandwich as gingerbread never seemed to suffer from these problems.
I dont use the stylus either so the average user i think will keep it firmly inside the hole it belongs.
moved from ios and they both have their good and bad points, depends what you want from the experience

Was thinking about jumping ship from the iPhone for a long time, I love apple stuff and would never get rid of my iPad but the iPhone is dull and has fallen behind. When the Lumia 900 came out I really liked it but wasn't too sure if I wanted to go without my favourite apps, recently I had my eye on the Samsung Galaxy Note. If you are thinking about buying it but aren't too sure and are maybe worried about the size...don't be! At first glance as I took this phone out of the box I thought the same but after 2 days you couldn't imagine using an iPhone again, not only the screen size but also because iOS is so restrictive in what you can do. The Note comes with Gingerbread installed but you can upgrade to ICS which works amazingly on this device. This is my first experience with Android and I am loving the fact I can do what I want with the device and the apps and flash works amazingly on this device. If your thinking about buying this phone, go for it. You won't regret it. Apple are getting slaughtered by Samsung in the smart phone market and with very good reason.

Well I had my Galaxy note for around two months now so the first thing to mention is on many days in the month it has now completely replaced my home computer for many of the everyday tasks I undertake.I can read the daily news, check my bank account, (always interesting) my Bank have a fantastic App program, and I can compose my emails and order the occasional urgent item from the web with complete ease because of the fantastic screen footprint.
I soon got over the fact that the phone looks large, well it is, but in a very pleasant type of way, it's not as small as my wife's Huawei Accend G300, (That in itself is a remarkable phone for the money) but with a good case/shell, I have the Otterbox commuter case, not only does the phone now look better, it helps in holding the phone much more secure, the fit is absolutely wonderful plus it protects the camera lens from dirt and scratches, (I didn't bother to use the screen protector)
I don't make many phone calls, but I never worry about the look when using it from anybody else's point of view, in fact no one mentions the size unless you are using it as a computer, then it's "that a large phone" to which I reply "this is what you call a phone" no worries there then.
Now that they have just brought out the Note 2 I expect that will be even better, however, I understand the original Note will be getting the Jelly Bean upgrade, so as the new Note will be very, very expensive the price of this is a bargain for what your getting.
Hope this helps you decide.
By the way, battery life is about a full day with plenty of use, although can stretch to 1½-2 days with minimal use.

First the good - this is a very impressive handset with a stunning 5.3" screen ideal as a mini tablet as well as a mobile phone. Battery life is poor but this is universally the case in almost all modern smartphones. Sound quality is good, and the user interface is excellent, featuring separate hardware buttons for home, menu and back to free up even more screen space. But if this phone is a Ferrari on the inside, it is a Lada on the outside. At a price of almost £400 I would reasonably expect a solid external design to rival the iPhone. Instead what you get is cheap plastic, a micro thin layer of chrome plating around the outside and a flimsy battery cover. And if you have a problem with it, Samsung will stick two fingers up at you.
I had this phone for just three weeks when the flimsy metal began eroding away from around the USB port, exposing the white plastic underneath. I sent it for repair, only to be told I would have to pay for the damage as it is external, so they have deemed it to be customer inflicted, which it certainly wasn't! The customer service, for both Samsung and their repair company, is poor. They take a 'we don't care' attitude and will not be negotiated with. The new part has a mere 30 day warranty, although given how poor it is, 30 days may be all it needs.
All in all my advice is to stick with Apple, HTC or similar. Samsung use cheap parts and cheap labour to make expensive phones, and you will get no sympathy when bits start to drop off your nearly new handset. Stay away!
