1.0 out of 5 stars Very bad battery time with ICS, 25 Feb 2013

Check the forums before you buy this!
With ICS (Android 4.0) it's just waste of money.
Seems that Motorola made a big mistake in software. With ICS the battery time is half or less as was with Android 2.3. With one charging can be used maximum 2 days.
The internet forums are full with same experiences.
I have contacted Motorola support but their only solution was to do a factory reset. Of course doesn't helped.
The are not able to tell when the problem will be fixed.
Until then you can buy better phones for the same price...

had the phone since September last year. initial impressions were very good excellent build quality as i would expect as this is motorola phone number 5. 1st motorola brick, 2nd motorola startac (awesome), 3rd was L6 wore the keypad out on that one,4th was a defy great little phone rugged tough and gave it to the wife as it fits in her handbag, then the Razr Maxx!. they are normaly reliable well built and last for a long time.

This phone has great battery life, build quality, screen and aps which make it easy to use.

My problems started with the android upgrade. the way you used the phone changed and some of the stuff disapeared. a few weeks after the upgrade the phone froze completely so as per instructions held the power and volume button down for 10 seconds to reboot but the phone died for 2 hours?? i was getting ready to throw it through the window and pushed the power button and it sprang to life. that was the start, now the screen judders, apps flicker and things freeze for a couple of seconds causing more frustrating button press then the phone catches up and i have to back track. now the power button has stopped working so i cant switch it on or of. i have been a motorola fan for years but no longer and I didn't get insurance as I expected the same qualty (ouch expensive decision).

so in summary ! fantastic build quality, great screen, good battery life that's why i gave it two stars

it dont work now. If i could switch it on it flickers and judders ( dont think this is a problem with the hardware) then i cant switch it of, should have kept my startac

will be looking for a new phone probably samsung S3 or maybe an i phone. not sure yet but it won't be motorola

This was my first smart phone after switching from using a Nokia for many years. The

phone I was looking for MUST have:
a) a long battery life
b) email capability
c) Google maps
d) not be ridiculously large

Having scoured the internet and reading too many reviews, I finally hit the jackpot! This phone matched all my requirements and had the longest battery life in smart phones (at time of purchase). I've used this phone for about 1 month now and I'm very happy with it. It took a little while to get used to and set up etc but otherwise it does everything I wanted and more. I also have the added benefit of not having the same phone as everyone else! :)

I've has this phone now for nearly three months, and would thoroughly recommend it. Having owned a Samsung Galaxy prior to the Razr Maxx, the things that make this phone stand out, are:

1. Phenomenal battery life - I can go 3-4 days between charging. For the Samsung, I had to charge it every day.

2. Build - Gorilla glass at the front, surrounded by metal bezel and sides, kevlar (what they make bullet-proof vests from) back.

The downside was that it did not ship with Android 4.0 (ICS), but upgraded itself about 4 weeks ago. Now waiting for 4.1 Jelly bean.

My phone got drenched while it was in my pocket at a concert. Switching to the Droid with a new plan was much less expensive than a new iPhone. I have mixed feelings about the switch.

Pros
- great battery life
- large, easy to see and use screen
- great graphics

Cons
- very large and bulky
- definite learning curve

Great phone even better with ice cream sandwich which is a 375mb download which went in faultlessly and apps updated automatically.
Good screen smooth scrolling great battery lifr i get my e-mils calls texts and browse bbc and charge once through the week, i don't game. It's well made and not plasticy with bleeding light
round buttons like S3 and so much cheaper than iphone 4 or 5.

Android on this is so much better than on the Dell Streak I had.

The guy in the o2 shop was impressed and wondered why they were not stocking it.

If you value your cash over the phone envy brigade don't overlook this phone it's great value for money and worth every penny.

If i broke it I would by another tomorrow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I need, 18 Sep 2012

This is actually my first smartphone.
I originally bought this phone because I loved the way it looked and the battery life sold it. I tend to go for alternative phones.
One thing you might want to know while reading this is that i'm not the biggest phone person in the world. I use a phone for calling, txting and internet browsing (mainly a few google searches and social networking.)
In terms of txting and typing, the on screen keyboard is easy to use in both vertical and horizontal positions, the phone calling is great, my voice is heard very clearly to other people, connectivity is pretty good, and browsing is easy and effective.

The battery is what sold it to me originally, at first I was unhappy because the battery life was supposed to be "epic" for this phone. At first I got about a day and halfs worth of charge.
I think this is partly because I was setting things up, customising, downloading apps and generally playing around with it, but I think new batterys need time to 'warm up' so to speak.
As time has moved on i'm much happier with it, now i've settled down into an average daily use, I can easily get 2 full days of battery, and if i'm being conservative, sometimes it can reach a 3rd day. If you are a heavy user, you might get less time, i'd say i'm a medium user.

The Razr Maxx is pretty solid aswell, the other night (during a drinking related incident) a whole pint was spilled straight over the screen. But it still works perfectly, as if nothing ever happened.

My set has just downloaded the ICS (ice cream sandwich) update for Android, and i've only played around with a few new features but its better than the Gingerbread OS I had before.

There are probably better phones out there, this phone will do most thing the others do and very well, but if you're anal about phones, maybe a Samsung S3 or HTC One X would be a better option.

But in summary, this phone is good looking, reliable, long lasting with that massive battery, good with calling on and txting, good at browseing and it can be upgraded to the latest android version. I personally love it, and everyone is incredibly impressed with it. (To me) it performs just as well (if not better) than my friends handsets

I hope this was of use to people.
