Product Overview

iPhone 3GS. Now with even more to love
Keep applications open in the background. Organise your apps with folders. Shop for books in the iBookstore. The 8GB iPhone 3GS takes advantage of all the great features of iOS 4.

Multitasking
Now you can run your favourite third-party apps - and switch between them instantly - without slowing down the performance of the foreground app or draining the battery unnecessarily. So you can listen to a football game while emailing. Or receive a VoIP call while playing a game. You can also drag and drop to organise apps into folders on your Home screens and get fast access to your favourites.

iBooks
More than a full-colour ebook reader, iBooks is also an amazing place to browse and shop for books anytime you feel like it. It works with PDFs that you can sync using iTunes on your Mac or PC. And you can customise iBooks to suit the way you read - adjust the brightness, change the text size and more.

Phone
On iPhone, making a call is as simple as tapping a name or number. And Visual Voicemail lets you play messages in any order - just like email.

3.0 out of 5 stars WiFi connection disappointing., 24 Mar 2013

The iPhone arrived in good time and is truly beautiful it it's condition and appearance. It does everything I expected of it but I use it with my "pay as you go" provider and I don't have 3G connection. I rely on my home WiFi connection for internet connection and that is where this product lets me down. I have to be within 10 ft of my router to get an internet connection. Anywhere else in the house or garden it is impossible to get connected. The same thing goes when I am out and about. If I'm at a shop, bar, restaurant or any other free WiFi area I just cannot get connection on this phone.
I also have an iPad and an iPod, both of which will connect to WiFi connections easily in any of the above circumstances so I don't believe it's my WiFi that's the problem.

Having previously worked in the mobile phone business for a number of years, I use to have a different mobile every other month, that is until Apple released the iPhone. More than just phone its potential was finally reached on the release of the 3Gs handset. Pretty much anything you wanted to do on a laptop or notebook you could do with a device that fits in my pocket! Apple iPhone 3Gs took communications to another level & really opened up what was possible via your mobile. The phone itself for me personally was a God send. Between flicking thru Facebook, MySpace & Twitter updating my status, being able to see pictures of relatives & friends far & wide as well as keep my book blog updated whilst receiviing & responding to emails meant I could do all this on the move playing games or watching a movie. Long gone where the days of being at work sitting at your desk & sneakily logging into hotmail to check messages. Yep this little puppy made life so much more easier.

The only thing I can say against this genius device is the fact it now has 2 younger siblings who have without doubt taking global communications to another level with facetime, soon to be available over the 3G network via the iPhone 4, 4s & the 'new iPhone' due late September. Love it or hate it, the iPhone is the global leader in innovation & technology. As the saying goes, 'immitation is a form of flattery' & it is abundantly clear the manaufacturers currently bitting at Apples heels copying its tech.

For those who are not so savvy or bothered too much about facetime - the 3Gs is the handset to have. Definately a 5 star rating hands down. Luckily for you I have one to sell at a fantastic low price in immaculate condition...

3.0 out of 5 stars Hope you are near mains electricity..., 12 Mar 2012

(PLEASE NOTE: This review is for an Iphone 3gs 8GB but is relevant to all internal memory capacities)

I've bought and sold my 3gs now but feel obliged to share my experience with it.
Lets start with the good bits.
-The iphone has just about everything you could want on it. Apps are widely available and there's an app for just about anything.
-The iphone is very user friendly; it's easy to work even if you are a technophobe.
-The touchscreen is superb, even if you have fairly chubby fingers like myself.
The iphone is great at what it does but this is where the main problem lies.
Because the iphone is loaded with apps, a camera etc. the battery life is shockingly bad, even if you just have it switched on and don't use it, you will be lucky to get 16 hours standby time, that figure is critically reduced if you browse the web or call out. If you use your mobile alot for texting and calling you wont get more than 5 hours out of the iphone and you cant just stick a new battery in because its built in. What you are left with is a mobile phone that isn't mobile because you have to charge it twice a day this kinda defeats the point of having a MOBILE phone.
Overall the iphone is a fantastic phone but is fundamentally bad as the battery life is simply unacceptable, if you want a mobile phone for calling, texting and browsing web I recommend you buy samsung's galaxy s (just like iphone but better battery life and faster), if you want a cool gadget that does just about everything, buy an Ipad. In all honesty, the Iphone is a bit pointless you would be better off buying a different phone and an Ipad. Battery life is the only real downside to this phone but its such a big issue that it can't be ignored. Also the ringtones are annoying lol.
My rating: 68% (Would have been in the 90s if it weren't for the atrocious battery life)
Reliability: 9/10 (just don't go too far from mains electricity)

Thanks for reading :-)

The iPhone is awesome, but this about buying the product through Amazon. First of all the price was the best available, and the delivery of the product was on time and exactly what it said on the tin! I would buy from the seller again. Very happy.

The 3gs is my second iPhone. I would never go back to a conventional phone. It enables me to run my business away from home and avoids the need to take a laptop. It is invaluable. It is also a delight to use. ITunes is seamless and efficient with syncing ( I have no idea about Windows users issues ). I don't have any beef about so called closed systems - I have all my music films photos email accounts etc on the phone and laptop and desktop - how is that a problem?

Problems? The phone seems to move on it's own. I put it on the worktop in the kitchen and then it turns up in the lounge. The kids say they don't know why, although I also notice the high scores on the games are much higher than before.

Now that the iPhone 4G has started showing up on rumour sites and being lost in public, there will be a lot of iPhone users looking to trade up, and the 3GS should start hitting the second hand market. When it does, and if you have the chance, snap one up.
As others here have noted, this isn't a perfect phone: battery life is poor, the camera, although improved and now supporting video, is far from best in class.
Where the iPhone scores, though, is in integrating itself into your every day life. I used Blackberries and Smartphones for years before the iPhone, and it was never something I did for pleasure. Taking the Blackberry beyond its comfort zone (as an excellent text only email device) or trying to do ANYTHING on the Orbit wasn't something you'd do for fun. With the iPhone, fun comes built in.

1.0 out of 5 stars Total rip-off pricing by Apple, 10 April 2010

The price of this phone is a total rip-off. It's not the best phone available. Most reviewers agree the HTC Desire is better, so why does the Iphone cost nearly twice as much as the Desire?

For ripping off consumers the Iphone gets a thoroughly deserved 1 star.
