i have had this phone for nearly 2 years now, just wanted to see how much they are now and thought i would leave a review.

like a few people said it has its silly moments and crashes now and agian, when this happens i usually leave it for 5 mins then its good to go,

one piece of advice i would give is dont fill the thing with music, it says it can handle upto 32gb thats rubbish i have a 16 gb card and at one point it was nearly full the phone became unresponsive and very slow so i whiped my card and all was well again. i would say 10 gb is ideal

its really durable hasn't broke at all i have dropped it from around 5 foot no broken screen nothing.

over all this phone is ok for normal use

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a great phone, loads of unresolved problems!, 24 Mar 2012

I got this phone as a family member has this as a work phone and I really liked the style and size. I got this phone Christmas 2010 and at first I was very happy with it. It wasnt long before it started to slow, and would freeze when getting messages. Then during last summer it stopped sending or receiving MMS messages (vodafone unable to find out why!) and then stopped uploading images to the web.
There is a major issue with this phone cutting out when you are on a call, you will still be able to hear the other person, but for some reason they cant hear you. Many many forum entries about this, can't see that HTC have acknowledged the fault or issued a fix/recall. Very annoying. Even if you end the call and call them back, they still cant hear you?!?!?
I dont really use this phone to access windows files, I just liked the phone. I dont think the issues are due to it being a HTC phone, I think that windows based phones clearly have alot of issues, and I will NEVER have another one. I'm now 15 months into a 24 month contract and seriously considering buying a cheap PAYG phone to replace this piece of c**p until I can upgrade at the end of the year.
I wouldnt recomment this phone, and I would seriously advise anybody to avoid windows phones. Yesterday I had to take the battery out 4 times as the phone froze while I was trying to delete text messages, even this is too much for this little phone to cope with. If it worked, this could be a decent little phone, but there are too many negatives.

at first it was very quick and responsive.BUT after having this for a few months, it is not very good at all. It is very slow and freezes all the time. The initial start-up now takes forever, and when it has come onto the home screen, it is another few minutes before i can use it. The touch screen is VERY non-responsive. When in vibrate mode, if it freezes, it will vibrate for ages ( at least a minute or so, usually longer). also, Because it has a small screen, the buttons are small and hard to click on. When i text in the 'conversation option' (where it shows texts like a conversation, showing their texts and your replys-its hard to explain) the messages are NOT in the right order, and makes it very annoying when reading back on texts.
When scrolling through texts, if music is playing, it pauses the music for a few seconds and then comes back on again.
The facebook is a VERY bad design and is really hard to use and does not show notifications and inboxes dont come through well, and then after about a month, THE 3G STOPPED WORKING! So now i have to be connected to the wifi to go on the internet, and it is very slow.
This phone is windows and not android, so there are VERY few games and apps. The apps it comes with are not that good and it does not come with a stopwatch.
the camera is not very good and there is no flash. when inside with some lighting , pictures and videos come out a yellowy orange color and blurry. the auto focus is ok, but it takes quite long to focus it.
THE MICROPHONE IS AWFUL! Probebly the worst feature on the htc hd mini. you can't hear what people are saying, it is vey bad quality and is all muffeled. this is annoying when videoing.
i DO NOT RECOMEND THIS PRODICT. I HATE IT AND NEED A NEW ONE.
thankyou htc :/

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay as a phone, but not as a smartphone, 15 Feb 2011

Hello,

I purchased this to use as a work-related phone. I work for various IT firms and needed a phone to take with me on various sites.

First issue? It doesn't accept bluetooth phonebooks, so I couldn't send all my contacts over. Yes you can sync it with google, but if you do, and then choose to sync it with an exchange server at the offices, anything you synced with google is erased from the phone...

It's all 'Microsoft' and I found it a bit strange. I'm an Iphone 4 user so maybe my standards are too high, but I swapped this phone out for a Desire and haven't regretted it since.

Sure the Desire and the HD Mini are apples and oranges in terms of cost and size, but I just felt strangely detached from the mini. Nothing seemed right about it...

Build quality was excellent though - very good physically, but in terms of software, web browsing didn't make sense and was always pixelated on the smaller screen...

Just my thoughts... Others may like it...

HTC HD mini is a compact size smartphone, easy to use and quite enjoyable. Extremely comfortable to hold and not too heavy. The touch-sensitive controls for Call, End, Home, Windows Menu and Back are responsive and accurate. HTC Smart sense interface, makes Windows Mobile more user friendly.

Ok well I already owned a HD2 so thought the wife might like the smaller version ie: HD mini, She couldn't get to grips with a touchscreen phone so reverted back to her sony after just a couple of hours use, I actually like the phone but having big hands & digits found it difficult to use and ended up pushing the wrong buttons, In certain areas it is a better phone than my HD2 as it has newer software and uses the Win mobile 6.5x OS, It performed just as well on normal usage but wasn't quite as fast browsing and displaying music etc probably because of the slightly slower processor which runs at 600mhz compared to the HD2s 1GHZ and smaller RAM cache, Anyway it's a great phone for the smaller handed person and it's a shame it ended up on e-bay, If you are already familiar with HTC and win mobile then you won't be disappointed hopefully.

In the 1st 16 hrs of owning this phone it crashed 4 times resolved by a "hard reset" leading 2 data loss NOT A HAPPY BUNNY sent it back, using by old windows 6.1 htc phone until I can afford a windows phone 7.
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE if U intend to do a lot with it: synchronisation over network, facebook integration, email, txt, windows messenger connection, internet browsing & of course phone calls.

After owning quite a few windows powered smartphones and PDA's I thought I had become used to the systems idiosyncratic behavior. Wrong, the phone which was beautifully made and nice to handle was simply ruined by the operating system.

My previous windows devices were all equipped with the means to perform a reset without dismantling, disguising the fact that they all required resetting at some point on a regular basis. The HTC mini did not have an external means of resetting and you had to resort to removing the battery. After doing this three times one day it simply had to go and I returned it and purchased a HTC Wildfire instead.

The only thing that had stopped me from buying an Android device earlier was a need to synchronize with Outlook (an absolute necessity for me)however with the release of HTC sync the problem had been solved.

I understand the HTC Mini has been released with the Android operating system but despite as I previously said the very nice build quality I would struggle to justify paying so much more for it than I did for my Wildfire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal for first smart phone user, 19 Oct 2010

I would say from my point of view (being quite experienced with technology myself) this would be an ideal first smart phone buy. It works very well - being able to connect to social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook and sync all your contacts into your phone I found very useful.

The weather and stocks applications can be useful, as well as other features you can use on the move. The wifi works very well, and most parts of this phone work with little problems.

However, the keyboard can get a little annoying if you're not used to it or if you have big fingers. If you have patience, there is no problem.

Another thing I found was that from time to time if an application failed while using wifi, the phone could freeze. But a simple turn off and back on would fix things.

For those who text a lot, the messages can get mixed up sometimes when you want to quick view them - however this can also easily be fixed by looking in all messages. The "conversations" feature is a bonus when it comes to texting for a while.
