With HTC HD2, communication is focused around people rather than applications, so all of your interactions like email, SMS, phone logs, and even updates from Facebook are all in one place. Right where your instinct tells you to look - next to the photo of the person with whom you want to stay in touch with. In business, a phone call often has the power to prevent a mile-long pile up of inconclusive emails. HTC HD2 makes it simple to go from reading an email to calling the sender. This was the very first HTC phone I owned and it put me off HTC for a very long time. The good points are short in that;- The camera is very good, it makes the very most of a 5 Megapixel
- The screen is quite unresponsive compared to todays phones, but for the time it was very very good and for a quite sometime this phone had the biggest screen of any smart phone (4.3").
- This phone was also one of the first to have a 1Ghz processor, which does help HTC sense run very smoothly.
- HTC sense, was probably the most beautiful interface ever designed on a phone at the time, the weather wallpaper is stunning and wowed my friends whenever I unlocked my phone.
- It has become a phone geeks dream of a device as its proven to be probably the most versatile handset ever for experimenting with new operating systems.
As for the bad points the list is endless, the phone runs windows mobile 6.5 which is long dead, Microsoft has completely stopped any marketplace support or official updates for this software, which means there's no more apps other than whats built in. HTC sense whilst its good looking is an absolute memory hog, the phone can easily crash whilst doing the simplest of things such as playing music because it simply has no RAM left, the truth is the phone actually has more than the 512mb that the software will allow it to run so nobody notices! The most worrying part comes from the huge number of reviews not just on amazon, detailing their negative experiences of this phone, every person who as owned it seems to have a different problem, ranging from random freezing and crashing to unbelievably strange behavior from the OS, I found that my phone at its worst HTC sense completely shut down meaning I was left using an old interface still in winmo 6.5. I have also seen a range of problems from battery life being drained in around 3 hours to the phone refusing to connect to my PC, the touch screen also randomly stopped working once. This phone has what some people call windows XP syndrome, which means that for no apparent reason things just stop working...
So should you choose to buy one? If your a business that needs a phone with your own software adding easily then yes. I repair man came to my workplace not so long ago and he gave me a HD2 with customer applications added which I used to sign to say the work was completed. As a daily driver however I couldn't recommend it. I have also noticed that for some reason this phones price is going up and up and up! I saw this for £150 2 years ago and its more than doubled, for dead and useless software it is a complete rip off. So for £300+ get something more modern.

Sadly, I have a HD2.To be fair to it, it looks fantastic. The screen, whilst hideously unresponsive, lights up well and is very easy to see.
Other good points? Erm... It has Microsoft Office?
Actually, the camera is excellent, I must be honest.
However, the praise ends here. The list of things wrong with the HD2 can go on and on.
Firstly, despite the decent processor, it is unbelievably slow. It falls over trying to load my SD cards content, it can't even run media player properly.
Secondly, the lack of free content for this phone is incredible. Actually, the lack of content full stop is unbelievable.
There's more yet:
The battery life, whilst nowhere near as bad as my Samsung Galaxy, is still very poor.
The wifi system drops connections constantly
The HD2 seems to have a habit of turning data roaming on automatically, racking up your phone bill.
The sms bug that stops the phone from sending any messages at all is inconvienient. This is not a phone for frequent texters.
There is only one game preloaded onto the phone, teeter.
The HD2 gets very hot under charging, and will occasionally stop charging at all. (I have found the source of this problem, there is an option to not charge the phone when it is plugged into a laptop (why?). The HD2 seems to think my charger is a computer)
The sound quality on the HD2 is appalling.
£330? For this? Really?
The touch screen doesn't like opening the text box to write messages in.
In all, a total rip off. Most people will be much better off with an android powered HTC. For those who need to email on the go, try another windows phone.
Good points : Nice screen, camera
Bad points : The rest of the phone
Score : 2/10

It's a long time since this device was launched, and it's now superseded in the HTC lineup by the Windows phone 7.5 and Android devices, but this is still a super device, with a lot to offer. The screen is excellent, with superb definition and excellent accuracy.
There are thousands of apps out there for this OS and you aren't just limited to a 'marketplace', of what ever brand :)
Apps run quickly and are very responsive.
The GPS locks on amazingly quickly.
The SMS bug mentioned by a few previous reviewers has been fixed, as you'd expect.
I find typing difficult on the on screen keyboard (I have big fingers), so have invested in a couple of capacitative styluses (styli?) which have completely resolved the issue. I can use my fingers if I forget the stylus, it's just not so quick or accurate.
When you hook the phone up to a windows PC, you can connect via active sync or Windows Mobile Device Center to synchronise, or alternatively you can view the device as a mass storage device to copy files directly from and to your PC. You can't do either of these with the all new Windows Phone 7.5, which was a big down for me.
Overall I'm impressed. After a brief (and expensive) flirtation with the HTC Titan, I've bought the HD2 to replace my HTC HD. The HD2 is streets ahead of the HD (which was running Windows 6.1)and in my opinion it is a far better business tool than the Titan.

brillant phone, make sure you look after it as it goes on and on and on.. I believe people who complain dont realise that you need to keep up with the updates from HTCWarning: A smartphone is exactly like a pc, it needs the updates, go to the htc website on your pc, upgrade to the latest rom and its briliant again. You can also update this phone to android too..... Wicked phone

I cannot add much to the reviews given here, but unfortunately after 19 months of use my phone now no longer charges. I have treated the phone with kid gloves and never mistreated it. The charging section of the phone has failed and it is now nothing more than a brick! My friend also has a HD2 and his charging port was dodgy from the moment he got it.I did upgrade my phone to windows phone 7 and it made a world of difference. Win 6.5 was too buggy and slow to be released on this phone. Removing 6.5 made the phone usable like it should have been in the first place.
I could get a battery only charger but my contract is up in 3 months and i might just use my e650 and then opt for the titan. The Titan is the win 7.5 phone that is basically the upgrade to the HD2 and HD7.
If you are happy to tinker with the phone and upgrade the OS yourself, get the phone it is the best out there for playing with, if you want a phone that works right out of the box that you won't do anything with. Stay far away and go for the Titan instead.

I bought this phone about 20 months ago, when it was JUST RELEASED!!I had never used a HTC phone before SO at the start i liked it but wasn't really pleased with my purchase.
After about 5 months of use, I started hating this phone and felt like throwing it in the bin or selling on EBAY (I listed it as well). I felt it was a brick and thought of buying I-PHONE.
BUT THINGS changed! and so DID I and MY WORLD!!!
Just when i listed FOR it to sell on eBay, i thought of doing a Google search for this phone's reviews as i wasn't happy..
Then i read a review saying that you could change the operating system to Google's Android.
At first i tried to download/run the android software through my SD card (keeping both windows and android).
I was exited to use the newly launch android (2.1) and decided not the sell.
Then i gave a try to download another android (2.2) to the nand (base of phone).
And i got happier and happier as the phone was getting better and better (never heard of before).
I kept on flashing all the new roms and just couldn't resist my happiness as the phone was/is getting better and better.....
Finally after flashing several rom/updates, I have chosen to stay with TyphooN CyanogenMod builds with the latest one on my phone being [28.JUL.11][MAG/cLK] TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.5.3[2.3.5][A2SD][tytung r10]
All in short i can say is this phone is the best ever phone i have had.
When the phone was released it was released with a windows operating system 6.5 which was not able to take the full advantage of the brilliant/exceptional/Amazing hardware that this HTC phone brings!!!! still rocks
So if you get a used one, buy it and flash the latest android system which runs like a space shuttle (smooth and fast and stable)

I'm no expert, but this seems to me to be one of the best cellphones available. Windows 6.5 synchronises very swiftly with Outlook (and Outlook Exchange Server if you wish), and seems to me to have few obvious flaws. This swiftness is miraculous in comparison to Windows 6.1. HTC Sense (the HTC overlay on top of the Windows system) has a couple of irritations, but these are minor and can be got around. It seems to me that Outlook Exchange Server has a reduced functionality from Outlook itself. Now that Windows 7 (which synchronises ONLY with Exchange Server) is here, the Touch HD2 is the last vestige of a cellphone that will synchronise effectively with stand-alone Outlook (as opposed to Outlook Exchange Server.) So, if full Outlook is your thing, get this phone while you still can.
