After purchasing this phone over a year ago now the phone has been extremely good and possibly the best phone i have ever had! within the past 4 months though i have had major issues with the phone, first being the screen went fuzzy and would just freeze for different lengths of time some being half a day so i sent it off to be repaired under the warranty and it was done for free (took about 8 days).

Got my phone back and couldn't be happier, they replaced my screen for me, brilliant! about a month down the line from that incident, same issue starts to happen again, still under my warranty as well as the new repair warranty or whatever it was called, i sent the phone off once again only to be told this issue is not covered by the warranty so now i'm looking at charges of around £40-£50 to repair my phone for a fault that is clearly due to the manufacturing of the phone.

Understanding that this may have been just me being unlucky, although i have heard many complaints of people having the same issue, this phone is still by far a great phone! it can run very high graphic games, its sound is pretty damn amazing, the PSP control system is brilliant and the overall feel of the phone is very smooth and easy to use.
i would easily buy this phone again and just hope i didn't have the same issues again.

The idea of the gaming phone is just brilliant, especially love it as you can use old consoles emulators and play good old games using the real gamepad.
Unfortunately the overall quality of the phone is not that great. The internal memory amount is very low and only allow to keep several essential applications installed.
The most annoying thing however is a plastic screen which is full of scratches just after one year of use.
Would love to see the 2nd version of the Play from Sony, using not the cheapest available components.

DONT BUY THIS PHONE GET THE SONY XPERIA PLAY 8GB . LET ME TELL YOU WHY ITS CHEAPER TO GET A 32GB MICRO SD CARD INTO THE PHONE THAN BUYING THE 16BG MOBILE. JUST CHECK IT ON AMAZON.

The phone is really cool I love it. I like the fact that I can play my games on the move or whenever I'm somewhere waiting for my train from work. It just makes my journey easy and fun.

I got this phone because it was a really good gaming phone i would recommend phone over the iphone 4 there are many reviews show how this phone is a lot better then the iphone, i have seen this in action because i have a friend with an iphone and he broke his iphone 2 and it was to do with crashing.

the graphics are brillian to watch the really good thing about this phone is that you get a controller attached to the phone so if you are a gamer you will enjoy more screen for gaming because there wont be any touch screen controller on the screen.

i bought mine from a different website but i thought i would post a review on here for other people :)

i have had this phone for a week, so far... its been amazing, the gamepad is a great addition making it much easier to play games on, it comes with good memory, so far i have around 10 games on mine and i still have 13gb left. one problem i had was the battery, it pretty much died in like 5 hours the first day i had it, i then recieved a notification about a battery upgrade (which doesn't increase the battery size but helps you close other programs when you dont wnat them open) this somehow has doubled the life, for example today when i went to work i had the radio on all day and its still on 47% battery, the only real fault i can actually say about this game was the internet connection how ever this wasn't the phone's fault it was my service provider xD

if you like playing games get this phone... you wont find anything better. all the games i have played so far run realy smooth

I have had this phone for roughly ten months. It is my baby and I love it. Youtube videos look incredible on it. Facebook is decent, and the best part Modern combat three is sick on it. The touch pads make it so easy to play, all those peeps with their touch screen ain't got a smidge on this phone. I will not be trading up till they come up with the xperia play two. The only complaint is the battery, but it is a smart phone, so I expect to have to charge it once a day. Even better you can turn it into a wireless hub and transmit your internet signal from your phone to your laptop. Great when you are on the move. Buy it, you will not regret it!

After sticking with my LG Viewty since 2006 I decided that after 5 years of substantial use that it was time to upgrade to one of the many smart phones currently available on the market. I read through many smart phone reviews as well as trying out various smart phones in the shops. I was looking for something that was relatively unique and was initially impressed with the new Blackberry Bold 9900, however I was disappointed with the limited number of applications available compared to what is available on the Apple Store and Android Market. I then decided to wait for the iphone 4S and was extremely impressed with the design, feel and operating system of the phoneas well as the unique selling point (USP) of SIRI, however at £500 to £600 I didn't think it was considered very good value for money. My search went on when I finally came across the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. At £180, which also included a 16Gb SD card, my first thought was with the relatively top end specification and USP of having a flip out Playstation control pad, this seemed excellent value for money, especially compared to the new iphone 4S.

I was still a little hesitant to make the final purchase as I read user reviews criticising how bulky and heavy the phone is as well as raising issues about the screen brightness, however even with these reported drawbacks I decided to proceed with the purchase.

When the phone arrived I was extremely impressed with the screen size, feel and weight of the phone. The flip out control pad felt perfect in my hands and the phone build quality felt solid with a premium finish. My only criticism about the design is the opening of the battery cover, which felt slightly flimsy and awkward to open.
Using the Android operating system for the first time was quite simple and the phone provided plenty of on screen setup instructions. The four non touch screen buttons are very practical feature to navigate efficiently through the various on screen options and applications. I especially like the menu button that provides additional option settings for each application.

As reported by other users I found no issues with the brightness of the screen display. The phone allows you to reduce or increase the brightness if need be. The phone speed is probably not considered top end compared to say the Samsung Galaxy S2 or iphone 4s, however there is no notable lagging or slow downs. I think it is a question of using your phone efficiently and removing applications that are redundant and making sure applications are installed on the SD card due to the limited internal memory of the phone.

I found the Android operating system extremely flexible to tweak individual settings to tailor the phone configuration to my individual requirements.

Playing games on the phone is a treat, especially with the Playstation control pad. Many smartphone games suffer from poor playability performance due to having to use touch screen controls. The control pad eliminates this issue with most Android games as well as the exclusive Xperia Play games. One of my favourite applications is the Super Nintendo emulator that allows you to play classic retro Super Nintendo games such as Mario Kart, F Zero, Street Fighter and many more. These games are practically unplayable using touchscreen, however using the Playstation control pad it really feels like you are reliving your past Super Nintendo playing days.

Battery life on the phone is excellent especially when you consider the number of applications and processes running on the phone. I always seem to be constantly using the phone and at the end of the day, the battery life is on average only half used, although I am careful not to use unnecessary battery draining resources, such as blue tooth or wifi when I am not at home.

I would definitely recommend getting a protective case before regularly using the phone as I have already dropped it a couple of times, but luckily due to the extra protection the phone did not get damaged.
I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone considering purchasing it as it is a complete multimedia phone package that is beautifully designed and very good value for money in comparison to some of the latest phones currently on the market. The phone is slightly more bulky than other smart phones due to the flip out control pad, but the benefit of using the pad for gaming outweighs this. I still have not used half the features regularly, such as the video/still camera or music player, however the sound quality when watching `you tube' videos is excellent and the still camera is very simple to use resulting in good quality snaps.

This is the best product I have bought this year, I have had this phone now for about 6 weeks and I can't seem to let go of it, it's constantly in my hands for some reason, just loving playing with it. After 6 weeks I'm still finding out new things I'm so happy I bought this after taking my time to buy it , was the best choice I made. Xperia games are great love the PS3 control pull out pad, my friends are just amazed by this,

Ok so that was the great side of things now for the not so good, first of I was not happy that my my phone was just left on my door step after I paid for recorded delivery not sure if it was royal mails fault or amazon for not sending it recorded delivery , 2, could be more RAM phone storage as you get 6 games on the phone which u can't delete and r using the ram memory, even with 16 gb sd card,. Also needs PS2 or PS3 games like GTA otherwise yeah just fab.
