Product Overview
iPhone 4. The fastest, highest-resolution iPhone
While everyone else was busy trying to keep up with iPhone, Apple were busy creating amazing new features that make iPhone more powerful, easier to use, and more indispensable than ever. The result is iPhone 4.
FaceTime
iPhone 4 makes video calling a reality. With just a tap you can wave hello to your kids, share a smile from across the globe or watch your best friend laugh at your stories - iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 or to the new iPod touch over Wi-Fi. And it works right out of the box. No other phone makes staying in touch this much fun.
Retina Display
The Retina display on iPhone 4 is the sharpest, highest-resolution phone screen ever, with four times the pixel count of previous iPhone models. In fact, the pixel density is so high that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels, which makes text amazingly crisp and images stunningly sharp.
Multitasking
iPhone 4 introduces a whole new way of multitasking. Now you can run your favourite third-party apps and switch between them instantly without slowing down the performance of the foreground app or draining the battery unnecessarily.
HD Video Recording and Editing
Shoot your own films in high definition. Capture impressive video even in low-light settings, thanks to the advanced backside illumination sensor and built-in LED light. Then edit and create your own mini-masterpiece right on iPhone 4 using the new iMovie app - with Apple-designed themes, titles and transitions. It's now available on the App Store.
5-Megapixel Camera with LED Flash
Take detailed photos with the new 5-megapixel camera with built-in LED flash. The advanced backside illumination sensor captures great pictures even in low light and the new front-facing camera makes it easy to take self-portraits.
It's been nearly 2 weeks since I bought the iPhone 4 and so far I am not disappointed.
(Major thank you to the seller for answering my question even "after hours", this kind of customer service is gold)
I'll be honest here, I was lent an ipod for a few months, and after loving my experience with Apple I thought I'd spend a little bit more and find out what the hype is about. For 250~ pounds I got a phone, a camera and an Ipod.
So far neither haven't disappointed, and i'm starting to think I got a better deal than I should! If you are just looking for a good quality, fun versatily phone and don't really care about "trends", but just really want a phone to last you for ages I recommend the iPhone 4.
I'll update my review if anything comes up.
so after 2 years, what can i tell you about it..
It doesnt feel as nice in yuor hand as the previous 3GS. Its definitely easier to drop. If you do drop it. It is HUGELY unforgiving. it will crack or shatter, definitely.
I can forgive it that, cos you can buy a case etc....
But i cannot forgive, and what has been a regular burden for 2 whole years.......the reception
The single aerial, over the dual in the 4s and the 5...make this phone infuriating!
I live in central london and still struggle daily with reception on the orange network. Now EE.
Battery is good. Camera is good. But all are better on subsequent models.
For the tiny difference in price........get a 4S. and if you can afford it....get the 5. But I wouldnt buy this in the modern market today. 2 years ago it was great. now , not so much

Oh! and it's also a good phone. Only negative is the battery life, it needs charging every day.

Firstly, the hardware. Apart from the screen sizing being too small for my liking, the rest of the phone is very good. It is quite solid, however, I can feel the phone move ever so slightly inside the aluminium body and I'm not sure if this is just the way it is after a year or two of use or I have a defective model, and the home button is so unresponsive it becomes an issue when I have to press it 4 times in order to do what I want it to do. Also, the lack of other buttons (menu, back, recent apps, etc.) makes this a very weird first experience, especially because different apps make their own buttons so I am constantly looking for how to move back and forth, as well as get to the settings. The speakers are great, being at the side of the phone is a lot better than being on the bottom as it means I am able to put the phone with the screen facing up without an issue. The screen resolution is also excellent, hopefully my new Nexus 4 will match this, but coming from the Galaxy S2 I can really see a difference.
Now the software, and this is where my issues start. I am very much used to the Android ecosystem, so haven't fully bought into the Apple one yet, please take this into account. The notification bar doesn't match Android in terms of app support, I am used to being able to install applications that can utilise that top bar but in iOS this is not the case. However, this is partially made up for by the notifications on the lock screen which I have found to be an excellent and useful implementation. The other problem I have is the inability to remove items from my notification bar such as weather, stocks and calendar; although I use some of these, I do not use stocks but not being able to remove them infuriates me because it means there is less room available to see notifications. In terms of hardware-software "butteryness" as it were, the phone is very fluid, please be aware that this does not mean fast. The phone is very responsive and apps open as soon as I click on them, but there is a difference here because whilst the apps open, they do not load for a while which is due to the single-core processor, so cannot be blamed on the software. In my opinion, the software does a great job in accounting for this and making the phone seem very fast, well done to Apple designers for this. This is one of the issues I have with Android; quad-core processors are not needed to make a fast phone, take a look at Windows Phones for examples of this, as well as iPhones.
Although I will still be getting my Nexus 4, my view of Apple and iOS has changed for the better. The keyboard is fantastic on this phone, but there are obvious restrictions through the platform such as the inability to add words to the dictionary straight from the keyboard and without having to go in the settings, something which I expected as I am coming from Android. Generally, I do prefer Android and its customisability, but understand that it is not for everyone, and if you want a simple piece of kit that 'just works', then this or the range of Windows phones are probably for you, and between those two platforms Apple wins on applications.
it definitely desserves the 5 stars
ps. i didnt buy thins off amazon
